UM Moot Club is a student organization dedicated to promoting and enhancing the skills of mooting among law students at the University of Malaya. Mooting involves simulated court proceedings, where students argue cases in front of judges, honing their legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills. The club organizes auditions, workshops, training sessions, and internal competitions to prepare students for national and international moot court competitions.
The UM Moot Club operates under the umbrella of the University of Malaya Law Society (UMLS), the principal student body representing law students at the university. The UMLS oversees various student activities, aiming to provide a holistic educational experience that complements the academic curriculum. UM Moot Club, as a specialized arm of the UMLS, focuses specifically on developing litigation and advocacy skills, which are crucial for future legal practitioners.

Route to Moot was conceived as an initial initiative aimed at introducing and cultivating the culture of mooting among students of the Faculty of Law, Universiti Malaya, particularly first-year undergraduates. Through an interactive and experiential approach, the programme seeks to provide foundational exposure to key mooting skills such as legal research, the drafting of written submissions, and the effective delivery of oral arguments before a tribunal or court.

It aims to provide an effective platform for law students to explore the fundamentals of mooting while gaining valuable exposure to the intricacies of commercial arbitration.
The competition emphasizes two essential legal skills—advocacy and research—both of which are pivotal throughout the legal profession. Additionally, it seeks to promote a greater appreciation and understanding of commercial arbitration while serving as a training ground for students to develop confidence, teamwork and professionalism within a competitive yet educational environment.
